I’ve written about goals for songwriters (here) before, but I want to discuss songs that can apply to ANY New Year’s Resolutions! Whether you need a motivational boost or need help creating goals, this playlist will help you get there.

New Year’s Resolutions Playlists
Whatever your New Year’s Resolutions are, there are plenty of songs to help you achieve them!
If you’re working on a New Year’s Resolution, tweet me and let me know!
My New Year's Resolution: Click To TweetIf you’re not sure what your New Year’s Resolutions should be, here is a list that might help. Let’s break it down by goal:
Workout Resolutions
This is probably the most common one, so a good place to start! This one is focused on pop music, but all of the songs are upbeat with a good message, so they should keep you going through the end of your workout:
This playlist can count for being healthy in general I guess. There aren’t a ton of songs about “eating healthier” or “drinking more water” but you’ll have to just make do with what you’ve got. If you’re a songwriter, maybe use those as inspiration for your own songs!
Finding Love
This one was tough because most playlists are about already being in love. Still, a lot of people believe in the “act as if” or “fake it till you make it” motto, so let’s use a good ol’ love playlist to keep your heart open and draw some positive energy into your life:
Some of these are dumb (“I’m Not the Only One” by Sam Smith is NOT a love song) but hey, just skip that one. I’m just trying to find the best playlists without making them myself. Chances are, you know plenty of love songs already and can make your own playlist!
Making Moolah
Who doesn’t want to make more money? If this is your New Year’s Resolution, this playlist is great to get your mindset in gear:
I….don’t know if “Mo Money Mo Problems” is the best for money mindset, but it’s still a good song so whatever I guess.
Growing Self Esteem
This one is super important and you’ll need a good playlist to pump you up along the way.
Reducing Stress
Sometimes a good song is all you need to temporarily reduce your stress, so hopefully this playlist will help you do just that!
I don’t recommend listening to songs with lyrics when you’re stressed. It’s too easy to fall into their story and not let your mind wind down. It’s up to you, though. I couldn’t find any actual playlists with singing for stress, so maybe everyone agrees with me?
If your goal is to get more sleep, this playlist will help with that too!
Letting Go of the Past
Whether it’s moving on from an ex, healing past trauma or leaving baggage behind, letting go is tough. Therapy will definitely help, but hopefully this playlist will too!
A lot of these songs deal with something specific, but that’s fine – either skip them or mentally apply them to whatever you’re going through. We all do that, right?
Facing Your Fears
This is a fun one: Do things that scare you. I’m terrified of pretty much everything, so every day is an exercise in facing my fears. Hopefully this playlist will help us face our fears and enjoy life more:
Being More Creative
If you’re a songwriter, artist or just trying to increase your creativity in general, this list might help you! Along with the relaxation playlist, I kind of think that listening to music with lyrics can slow your creativity a bit. But maybe that’s just me. Try this playlist if you need a creative boost:
Getting Motivated in General
If your New Year’s Resolution doesn’t fall into any of these categories, or if you just need to get motivated in general, check out this playlist for inspo:
