Dan has a new single featuring my voice, a cover of John Cale’s “Burned Out Affair.”
I love the melody of this song and was so excited to work on it with Dan.
You can find the original Burned Out Affair here:

See how it compares to ours here:
When I session sing for a client, I never know how it will sound when it’s finished. The final of Dan’s version is very relaxed and ambient, which is similar to our previous projects so it works!
Dan has told me he plans to release an EP of our work together. I will write about it when it is ready and available!
If you’re wondering how often I do covers as a session singer, the answer is slightly less than originals but still semi-frequently (not a concise answer, I know). Clients approach me when they’d like to reproduce a favorite song of theirs. Most often, they want a female perspective on a male song. There are many singers who “don’t approve” of covers and feel that artists should sing their own songs. My response is three-fold: 1). Do whatever makes you happy, 2). I’m a session singer so a lot of what I do is singing other people’s music, and 3). Covers are awesome! They’re a great way to connect with new fans who haven’t heard your music yet. But again, if covers bother or annoy someone…see number 1. Haha. You do you! If you only want to do originals, that’s awesome. If you’re a cover band, that’s awesome!
