If you missed my post about why I’m writing about these, check that out here. Otherwise, let’s get started!
Your Heart Chakra is located, surprise surprise, in your heart. It’s also generally within that whole chest/shoulder area. It is the 4th chakra and is associated with the color green. If you’re surprised to hear it’s not red or pink, that’s because the lower chakras (Root and Sacral) take those colors. If you use crystals for your chakras, some people do use a rose quartz for it. I prefer to just stick with green because it’s easier to remember. Plus, there’s no reason the color green can’t be for love, right? Next Valentine’s Day, surprise your love with a lime or small patch of astroturf. They’ll love it, I promise.
The Sounds Associated with the Heart Chakra
The Heart Chakra is connected to the key of F. In terms of genre, I would go for some good R&B. What genre is better for matters of the heart? Of course, you can use whatever you’d like, but I encourage you to bust out your Luther Vandross or Jaheim here. Frequencies vary for this and all other chakras, but here is a good video to open your Heart Chakra:
How will I know if my Heart Chakra isn’t aligned?
First, I’m going to say that if you have chest pains, SEE A DOCTOR. The more research I do on chakras and their alignment symptoms, the more I believe that physical symptoms are unrelated. You can believe whatever you want of course, but I just feel that chakras deal with the emotions and mind more than anything physical. It’s important that you stay healthy in all aspects of your life, so see a doctor if you experience any kind of physical symptom.
You may feel as if you are too sensitive to criticism, or you are fearful of betrayal. You may find yourself growing attached to people or ideas too easily, or being the opposite and not trusting at all. Perhaps you feel *slightly* depressed (again, see a doctor for clinical depression). You may feel lonely or overly emotional.
How Can I align it?
- Surround yourself in green (or pink if you can’t let go of that color association with the heart)
- Eat healthy green foods like salad, maybe go meatless for a bit
- Spend time in nature
- Meditate with a focus on healing the Heart Chakra
- Listen to music in the key of F
What songs are good for the Heart Chakra?
These are songs in the key of F that deal with love, so they might be of some use to you:
Beyonce, “Crazy in Love” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViwtNLUqkMY
Etta James, “At Last” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-cbOl96RFM
If you’re like me, you’ve heard this song no less than 39,593,062 times, but it is good for a Heart Chakra meditation.
Steve Winwood, “Higher Love” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bcSoHoJh0c
FYI: Whitney Houston did a cover of this that was beyond amazing (produced by Stevie Wonder). But the original is great also and I’m trying to give different artists for each chakra.
Fleetwood Mac, “Gypsy” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glStPHUErJU
I don’t really know what this song is about, but sometimes vague lyrics are better to meditate. Plus, I love Stevie Nicks so much.
Megadeth, “Trust” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keRMhpjjn_U
My partner at Brain Stamp is the world’s biggest Megadeth fan. I am the world’s biggest Whitney Houston fan. By our powers combined, we somehow came up with Zebra Stone. Weird, right? I’m just trying to give you a wide variety to choose from in terms of genre.
