I’m really excited to show you this latest track called Summerland!
I co-wrote and sang on Ruvelly’s dance track. He’s an amazing producer and it was a fun project. When I heard the track, I was immediately excited to start working on it.
My role in this project was a topliner and singer. A topliner is basically writing a melody and lyrics (the singing part) over an already-produced track. I do this quite a bit and enjoy it very much. If you’re curious, here are the lyrics:
When the ice melts away your fears
When you’re stripped down to skin and bones
When the light fades in final years
You will not be alone
Heaven, new life or Summerland
I will lead you there by the hand
Ooo ooo ah ah
New new nah nah
Ooo ooo ah just take my hand
Ooo ooo ah ah
New new nah nah
You’ll be new in Summerland
This was cool to hear in its final form because Ruvelly took my harmony parts and made leads out of them in the second half of the song, which I was not expecting. He’s an incredible producer and I’m glad I got the chance to create this with him.
You may notice the pseudo-religious theme here. The point of it was that love is stronger than life and death, and no matter what awaits us, we will find our loved ones. I chose Summerland (the pagan version of an afterlife) to be the main theme simply because it rhymes with “hand.” Although it seems like I’m leaning toward a particular belief here, I promise I’m not. I really have no idea what comes after death and I’m cool with not finding out for a while haha. The point of it was that whether you believe in Heaven, reincarnation (“new life”) or something else, love will find you.
