I did a whole series listing every Capricorn Musician ever, and I want to expand on that to dive into what that really means.
Some people don’t believe in zodiac signs at all, while some people go all in and believe every bit of it. I feel like I fall somewhere in the middle, and most people probably do as well. There are SO many factors that can affect your personality, including your childhood, your family, friends, etc, that it really can’t be all dependent on your zodiac sign. Other people point out that your main zodiac sign (your Star Sign) is just one part of your life, and that you also have Sun Signs, Moon Signs, Planet Signs, and other factors. I know many Capricorns and they are in no way alike so there are a lot of factors there.
When you consider all of these, it’s no wonder that you may not feel like you identify with your star sign. That’s okay! You can find out any of your other signs here. You can scroll down to find your Venus Sign, Vertex, Mercury Sign, and many others. Once you have those, you may find that your personality is much more similar to one of your other signs. I’ve written about each sign over the last year, so feel free to search around to find the one that’s closest to you.
Capricorn Singers, Songwriters and Musicians
My co-writer and producer on my album is a Capricorn, and as a Virgo we worked really well together. Every time I’ve read anything about the Capricorn/Virgo business relationship, it describes us pretty well. We’re both serious about our craft and push each other to do better.
You can find general descriptions of Capricorns everywhere, but let’s do a quick recap just to catch us all up. Capricorns are known to be extremely hard working and goal-oriented. They are loyal to a fault and love making plans. In fact, they can spend more time on formulating a plan than actually carrying it out. They do not like to do things on a whim and also hate careless mistakes.
On the negative side, they can be materialistic. This ties into their hard-working nature, because with hard work comes shiny things. However, they tend to have no problem stepping over people or doing whatever they need to do in order to get the things they want. The Capricorn symbol is the mountain goat, so while they can climb to great heights easily, they can also head butt you right off of the side of the mountain if you’re in their way.

The Songwriting Capricorn
A Capricorn can write out a whole album in a week. Once they get into the “zone,” it’s hard to pull them away from their work. The problem, however, is that they can get so lost in what they’re doing that they may not do a lot of quality control. One great song beats 15 average songs every time, Capricorn. Put your hard-working nature to good use but make sure you get feedback on what songs to pursue.
Capricorns are typically great at accepting feedback. Their desire to improve keeps them open to opinions of their work. They can be incredibly blunt when giving feedback, however. Their dedication to their craft leaves little tolerance for any work that doesn’t grab their ear right away.
If your co-writer is a Capricorn, make sure to give and receive feedback often. You’ll want to keep them focused on the right things, but once they have a direction, you can feel confident that they’ll get it done and do it well! Here is a post on how to deal with co-writing difficulties.
The Singing Capricorn
Like all other things in Capricorn’s life, they approach singing with a methodical strategy and dedication. This could make them really great vocal students, but there are some potential pitfalls here. Singing is equal parts technique and emotion, so it’s important to add the emotion to back up their technical skills! You want to have the soul to balance out the performance. You may also be so focused on practicing singing that you could very easily injure yourself without noticing. If you wake up after a gig with a sore throat, it’s okay (and wise) to take a break the next day. Don’t push too hard!
It’s important to distinguish hard work vs obsessive work. Capricorns don’t always know the difference, and while it makes them admirably hard workers, it can lead to burnout quickly. This is especially important to note for your voice, because it’s so easy to injure yourself and so long and difficult to get it back. Establish set practice times and allow yourself (or even FORCE yourself) to take a break.

The Capricorn Musician
You can pretty much take everything said about the Capricorn singer and apply it here. However, playing an instrument obsessively isn’t as dangerous, because you’re not at risk of serious injury. Sure, you might get hand cramps or sore fingers, but those are not as risky or scary as a vocal injury.
Capricorn’s drive and dedication makes learning almost any instrument a breeze. They may find that lessons become boring or tedious, but the key is to continue to push yourself. If you’ve already surpassed your instructor, find a new one! Go online, there are plenty of courses to take. A self-directed Capricorn should have a much easier time learning an instrument than other, less grounded zodiac types.
If you’ve tried an instrument (or several) and you feel like you just aren’t learning it well, you may need to reconsider what you actually want to do. Not everyone wants or needs to play an instrument. Perhaps you would prefer songwriting or singing, or maybe something else in the music industry altogether. Once you find what you love, you’ll find the dedication comes easily.
Capricorn in the Music Business
This is the area where a Capricorn can really shine. In addition to your musical talents, you can be a shrewd and savvy business person. Contracts and negotiations are a breeze and you always know what to look for. It’s not easy to take advantage of a Capricorn! You could even help others with your knowledge.
One thing about Capricorn is that they can ruffle a lot of feathers, which can lead to closed doors or even enemies in the music business. They aren’t afraid to do whatever it takes to get what they want, and they are also blunt when something doesn’t add up. You would do well to have a peacemaker zodiac sign with you (such as a Pisces) to balance out your energy. You be the bad cop and let them be the good cop.
It’s also important to remember who your friends are. Capricorns have a tendency to easily move onto bigger and better things, but your friends, family and fellow musicians should continue to have a space in your life!
If one of your band members is a Capricorn, they would be a good person to handle the cutthroat negotiations. Just make sure they are doing what’s best for ALL of you and not just themselves!
