The Gemini Musician: How Your Zodiac Sign Affects Your Music
We are now in Gemini, which is one of my favorite times of the year. If you’re in the Northern hemisphere, we’re warming up and days are getting brighter and longer. Both of my parents and my nephew are Geminis, so this is also a time of parties and spending a ton of money on gifts.
Before we get started, I need to do my obligatory “this may not apply to you” speech. There are a ton of factors that influence your behavior and personality, and your zodiac sign is just one tiny part of it. There are more that just your Star Sign as well. You could be more influenced by your Sun Sign, Moon Sign, Planet Sign or something else (all of which you can find here). My parents are incredibly different and I would never guess they’re both the same sign. However, these tips still may help you so it’s worth checking out! Just use it for entertainment purposes only.
I have a complete list of every Gemini musician here, if you want to find fellow Geminis.

Gemini Singers, Songwriters and Musicians
There are overviews of Geminis everywhere, but let’s go over it briefly just to cover the bases: Geminis are great conversationalists and know a little bit about everything. Known as “the twins,” they can have almost two different sides to their personalities. One side is the friendly, outgoing, lovable side, and the other can be surly, dark and depressed. All signs have different sides to them, but Gemini can take this to the extreme. Those two theater faces are a great representation of Geminis. They can also be a little indecisive and difficult to keep on task.

The Gemini Songwriter
Gemini is very expressive and communicates well, so lyrics tend to come easily. They are also a drama magnet, so there is a never-ending supply of stories! Gemini’s ability to take one small conversation and create an entire album from it is unmatched. You can easily see all sides of the story and talk about them with ease.
The biggest struggle Gemini would face is actually finishing songs. They may start songs easily, but get bored or distracted and quit. They will also have a hard time getting started on a half-finished idea, since it is now “old” and uninteresting. You’ll have to work to either finish one song before moving onto the next, or find ways to jump back into an old song and start it up again.
If your co-writer is a Gemini, keeping them on-task will be a challenge. You may also find that they forget meetings or go weeks without contacting you. Don’t take it personally, it’s just their nature! You’ll find that when they are actually present (physically and mentally) they’ll have an easy time creating memorable and thought-provoking lyrics.
The Singing Gemini
Gemini is a born performer and can easily switch genres or styles, even in the middle of a performance. They go with the flow and read the audience well, so an intimate acoustic performance can easily turn into a jam if that’s what the audience wants. The Gemini band member is a show-stealer, not out of malice but simply because they have a flair for performing.
Dramatic Geminis are also prone to throwing a fit right before showtime and refusing to perform. The show must go on, Gemini, so get up there and do your thing. You likely won’t even remember what you were upset about by the time you’re finished.
As charismatic as they are, Geminis can also have quite a bit of stage fright. They have a lot of nervous energy in general which can affect them before a show. They do, however, adjust to tour life easily as they love change and variety.

The Gemini Musician
Geminis are so indecisive, they may have a hard time choosing an instrument. They may also jump from one to another as they get bored. In order to become proficient, you’ll want to sign up for actual lessons to hold yourself accountable. You’ll probably forget to show up once in a while, so put it on your calendar!
If you can’t decide between two instruments, the simple answer would be to learn both. However, with your lack of focus, that might further complicate things a bit. Choose the one you like best (or one that speaks to you now), become proficient, and use it as a goal: You don’t get to start learning the other until you’ve become decent at the first one. You may also benefit from group lessons, since you love crowds so much!
Gemini in the Music Industry
I say this to everyone, regardless of their zodiac sign, but I’m ESPECIALLY saying this to you, Gemini: You need a lawyer to look over ANYTHING you sign. You will tend to get so caught up in the idea of success that you’ll skip over important details. Even if you focus intently on legal documents, you may find it difficult to put the whole picture together. A lawyer will be immensely useful to you.
In terms of PR, though, you might not need anyone but yourself! Geminis are so outgoing and affable that people are naturally drawn to you. It’s not “self-promotion” when you’re just being your likable, friendly self. Connecting with fans is your favorite part of the job.
