The Leo Musician: How Your Zodiac Sign Affects Your Music

We are now in Leo, which runs from July 23 through August 22. This fire sign is represented by the Lion. In the United States, we’re in the hottest parts of summer (which can range from roughly 30-300 degrees depending on where you live).
Before we jump into this, I just want to say that this is for entertainment purposes only. You might not believe that horoscopes are real, and that’s totally fine! I’m not sure how much of it I believe, but I like playing around with it and learning more about it. You have more than just your star sign, so you might resonate with one of your other signs (you can find them here). I’m assuming that if you’re here, you probably believe in it at least a little, or you’re curious. Welcome!
I also have a list of every Leo musician ever, which you can check out here.

Leo Singers, Songwriters and Musicians
You can find general info on Leos everywhere, but here’s a brief recap: Leos are passionate, generous beings with a love of luxury and creativity. Like the lion, they insist on being king/queen and demand respect. If they don’t get it, they can throw a very undignified tantrum. They can also be a little controlling, as any self-assured ruler would be. Now that we’ve covered the bases, let’s focus on Leos as musicians.

Leos make great collaborators. Friendly and personable, they can bring teams together and their loyal nature makes them great business partners. They love to be in-charge, so if there are any other writers who want control, they may butt heads. Leo will laugh it off, however, if their reputation is on the line.
They may not also be the most profound lyricists, preferring to write about partying and money than deep introspection. That’s totally okay, and there is a need for those songs as well! Authentic party songs are better than fake introspection, so go with what you know, Leo!
If your co-writer is a Leo, you can always count on them to bring the fun and to get people together. They will want to have control of the group, however, and you may have to handle their delicate ego. If you allow them some type of leadership role and give them semi-regular praise, you’ll have a loyal and wonderful co-writer and friend, so it’s well worth the effort!
Leo Singers

Graceful and majestic, Leo has a powerful stage presence. Off stage, they will charm fans with their charisma and exciting personality. They’re also unlikely to be involved in scandals, as they can easily talk their way out of most situations. No awkward interview answers from Leo! This born performer will make the right moves and answer the right questions.
Stage fright isn’t an issue for Leo, but a negative review will definitely shake them. They’ll maintain their composure and outward confidence, but inwardly their ego will suffer. Read these tips to deal with criticism, Leo! You’ll be fine, since you bounce back from setbacks easily. A negative album review is just the motivation you’ll need for an even better album next time!

As far as playing instruments goes, Leo should have no trouble learning new techniques. This is also a sign likely to have a flashy, eccentric instrument. It’s not necessarily about showing off; Leo just tends to think that the quality of the instrument will impact their talent. Even if it’s a placebo effect, it seems to work, so do whatever works for you!
Leos might have a hard time taking direction from a teacher. They like to run the show and resent taking orders from someone else. They’re there to help you, Leo, so let them! Look at them as a coach or advisor rather than someone “above” you. Also, letting someone else take the lead every now and then is a good thing!
Leo and the Music Business

Here is probably where Leo will struggle the most. A combination of blind loyalty, a need for complete control and gnawing impatience can land Leo in a variety of troubles. Let’s examine each potential pitfall:
You may be so loyal to your band or co-writers that you hold yourself back from other opportunities. Or, you may be loyal to people who don’t have your best interest in mind. Loyalty is an awesome trait, but don’t fall into self-sabotage here. Put yourself first!
You may be unwilling to let others help you because you think you can do it best. While that may be true, you can’t do it all alone and you shouldn’t have to! Let others bring their expertise and help you further your career. You can also let others be in the driver’s seat occasionally. I know this contradicts what I said earlier about loyalty, so you’ll need to use your best judgement and intuition to decide which applies to you.
Finally, Leo is epically impatient. You may have just started guitar lessons last week and if you aren’t Stevie Ray Vaughan yet, you’re frustrated and want to give up. The music business is notoriously slow moving, so keep that in mind and don’t give up too easily! It takes a while to build a fan base, gain a following and get noticed. Keep showing up and people are bound to notice your brilliance eventually!
