The Libra Musician: How Your Zodiac Sign Affects Your Music

I did a whole series listing every Libra Musician ever, and I wanted to expand on that to dive into what that really means.
Some people don’t believe in zodiac signs at all, while some people go all in and believe every bit of it. I feel like I fall somewhere in the middle, and most people probably do as well. There are SO many factors that can affect your personality, including your childhood, your family, friends, etc, that it really can’t be all dependent on your zodiac sign. Other people point out that your main zodiac sign (your Star Sign) is just one part of your life, and that you also have Sun Signs, Moon Signs, Planet Signs, and other factors. One of my best friends is a Libra, and one of my exes is also a Libra. They couldn’t be more different, so I’m sure there are a lot of factors included.
When you consider all of these, it’s no wonder that you may not feel like you identify with your star sign. That’s okay! You can find out any of your other signs here. You can scroll down to find your Venus Sign, Vertex, Mercury Sign, and many others. Once you have those, you may find that your personality is much more similar to one of your other signs. I’ll be writing about each sign over the coming year, so you can come back and find the one that’s closest to you.

Libra Singers, Songwriters and Musicians
You can find general descriptions of Librans everywhere, but let’s do a quick recap just to catch us all up. Libras are known to value justice and fairness, as their sign has the image of a scale (pic or link). They strive to see all points of view and can resolve conflicts between others easily. They are very image-conscious and like to make sure they look good and people view them favorably.
On the negative side, they can be duplicitous, which comes from trying to make all sides happy. They also tend to make a lot of plans but find it hard to follow through or commit to many of them.

Since Libras have great imaginations, songwriting should be somewhat easy for them. Their ability to see both sides of a story can help them craft well-rounded characters and full stories. Libra can appear to be self-confident, but may in fact be very insecure. Instead of hiding your insecurity, delve into it and expose it via your songwriting. You’ll make greater connections with listeners and grow as a person.
As a co-writer, Libra can help resolve disagreements in the writing room. They can also, however, get caught up in “playing both sides,” so it’s important to always keep the end goal in mind. They may daydream a lot during writing sessions, which is a good thing! But make sure the daydreams stay within the realm of songwriting and keep them focused on the task at hand. they may also agree to things that they don’t really like, just to keep everyone happy. It’s important to make sure you ACTUALLY like things, rather than just agreeing for no reason. If you think the song is moving in the wrong direction, speak up! Your ability to appease everyone will help you navigate disagreements. I have a post on dealing with difficult co-writing situations here if you need help!
If your co-writer is a Libra, keep them focused on the task at hand, but allow them to daydream also. Make sure they are expressing their true feelings and aren’t just saying what they think you want to hear. Call on them if your group gets into an argument about a song!
The Singing Libra

Most Libras love attention and their image, so performing is right up your alley. Of course, different things can impact this, like whether or not you’re an introvert and whether you have stage fright. However, if you identify as a Libra, you should have a relatively easy time charming a crowd. Your ability to craft your image is a gift, but make sure you don’t come across as too fake. Be a little raw with people. Share some insight into your world and you’ll find that people open up to you more.
Since Libras love trying new things, blending genres or trying new performances should be a breeze. Vocal lessons also come easily to you as you’re able to pick up on techniques quickly.
Libras can also craft their image to such perfection that they eventually start to believe it as well. This can be detrimental to your singing career. When someone believes they are above critiques, nothing good can come of it. Stay humble by studying your favorite performers and remembering that there is no such thing as “perfect” singing. With your ability to charm and please others, you’ll have plenty of fans!

The Libra Musician

Similar to the Libra singer, a musician will likely take lessons easily. The talent is there, but the focus may not be. Make sure you put in the necessary time and effort to achieve your goals! It is also important to be honest with your instructor about where you struggle. Don’t say you’ve done the lesson if you haven’t, and don’t say you’re doing fine if you’re stuck on something. Your instructor is there to help! Let them guide you toward greatness.
It’s also important that you’re learning the instrument you actually WANT to play. Someone may have pushed you to do guitar, and you went along with it because you wanted them to be happy. Is that what you really want, though? Maybe you’d be happier with something else. Finding the right instrument is important to keeping your focus, so make sure you’re doing what you want to do!
Libra and the Music Business

Because Libra has such a stellar ability to determine fairness, they can be great at reviewing contracts. You’ll be able to tell whether or not something is really as good as it seems on paper. Of course, everyone regardless of zodiac signs should see a lawyer before signing anything! However, you have an ability to review the positive and negative of deals and see them for what they are. Use this to your advantage. You may be an optimist, but contracts are black and white and what they say is what they mean. You’ll need to be shrewd here and speak up if it doesn’t seem right!
