This project has been on my heart for a long time, and I’ve done it for a few years on the side. However, I’m excited to announce that you can now get session musician lessons from me!
Want to be a session musician or singer?
I’ve been a session musician for years, and hopefully my blog proves it. I love helping people in any way that I can, and one of the questions I’m most frequently asked is “how do I do what you do?” Now you can learn from me exactly all of the steps to be a successful session musician.
What are your qualifications?
One, I have a ton of experience. I’ve been doing this full time for years, and I know all of the ins and outs of the industry. If you want to see some of the free advice I’ve given, check out my post on common session musician mistakes here, and common problems people experience here. I also give advice on important investments for new session musicians here. If I give all this info away for free, you can trust you’ll get much more with lessons!
How do lessons work?
I recently joined PivotPlanet, a career-building course website. You can go through them if you feel more comfortable doing that, or you can contact me directly if you prefer. Lessons are done one at a time and privately, either via skype, in person, or whatever works best for you. They are an hour long and you can have as many as you like!
What will I learn?
This is the fun part – I tailor each lesson specifically to you and where you are in your career right now. We’ll review every part of your abilities, ambitions and goals and create an action plan to get you where you want to be. There is SO much to learn in this industry, and I’m always still learning myself! I don’t want to give generic information, especially when everyone is completely different. Someone may have questions about marketing as a session singer, while someone else may actually want vocal lessons. Whatever you need, I’m here to help!
I’m not sure if I want to be a session musician. Can you still help me?
Absolutely, but our first lesson will be more of a coaching session than any actual lessons. I don’t want to teach you anything you won’t ultimately use, so I want to make sure you really want to do this before we get started! I’ll ask you a series of questions about your personality, talents and techniques and from there we can decide if this is right for you, or if you might be more suited to another career in the industry. I will not try to sway you one way or another; this needs to be YOUR decision! However, I will help you know how to know what you want and then I can help you get there.
